Man Found Dead in Houston Identified as Homicide Victim
HOUSTON, Texas - Houston police are investigating the death of a man found at 702 Girard Street on Wednesday night. The man has been identified as 56-year-old Damon Spiller, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD). HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Stroble and Detective K. Collier reported that HPD patrol officers and Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the address regarding an unresponsive man found in a residence. The Houston Fire Department pronounced Spiller deceased with no apparent signs to indicate the cause of death at that time. An autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined Spiller's cause of death to be due to a gunshot wound. According to a preliminary investigation and evidence found, detectives believe a gunshot was fired from the area of the East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) ramp from the North Freeway (North Interstate 45) lanes. Detectives are seeking to speak with anyone who may have encountered anything suspicious in that area on July 20 or July 21. Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
