Columbus government seeks public comments for construction and renovation projects
The Columbus Consolidated Government has completed the environmental reviews on two projects and is inviting the public to read the records and make comments for a set time period. Urban League One project involves proposed renovations to the Urban League of the Chattahoochee Valley’s historic headquarters at 802 First Ave. This federally funded project has a $500,000 budget from Community Project Funding. The renovations would improve the building and support expanded programs and services, according to CCG. Proposed improvements include exterior renovations, an updated front entrance, new windows and outdoor lighting, an accessibility ramp and a new agency sign with a message board. Inside the building, the renovations would create a flexible event space with soundproof room dividers so multiple activities could take place simultaneously. The environmental review record will be available to the public on the third floor of Columbus City Hall, 1111 First Ave., weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Written comments on this project must be received by Oct. 26 and can be emailed to Emma Kimbrel in the Columbus Community Reinvestment Department at Kimbrel.Emma@columbusga.org . The city will review the comments before submitting its request to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
