City of Clinton Lowers Tax Rate

For the ninth time in ten years, the City of Clinton is lowering its tax rate. At the Wednesday night Clinton City Council Meeting, Treasurer and Finance Director Clint Lichtenwalter announced that the levy in the community will be increasing to $2,178,893, which is around 9% higher than last year. The tax rate, which is what affects residents, will be decreasing by over 10%. In the last ten years, it’s decreased by almost 45%.

DeWitt County Friendship Center Christmas Treat Orders Open

The DeWitt County Friendship Center is once again putting on its Christmas Treat Fundraiser. Executive Director Paula Jiles told the Hart Media Group on the WHOW Morning Show that they have expanded the menu for the annual fundraiser. Red velvet cheesecake bites, Oreo truffle balls, buckeyes, and puppy chow are now available for purchase to support the Friendship Center. She adds that orders are open now and are due by December 11th.

(The Center Square) – The Illinois Housing Development Authority and Corporation for Supportive Housing announced on Thursday that development teams across Illinois may now apply for the 2027 Supportive Housing Institute, an accelerated training and technical assistance program designed to equip teams with the expertise to successfully develop and finance affordable housing with support services. IHDA has committed more than $122.5 million in financing to 16 of the 47 teams that completed the Supportive Housing Institute, with additional proposals still advancing. SPRINGFIELD, IL – Springfield ranks among the "rattiest cities" in the U.S., according to one recent list. The capital city did not make the top 10, but it made the top 50 in Orkin's Rattiest Cities list . Springfield ranks 29th, having jumped 8 spots on the list since last year. Chicago holds the second spot on the list. Orkin determined the rattiest cities by tracking all new residential rodent treatments from August 2025 to August 2026, which the company says offers a snapshot of the cities with the highest levels of rat and mice treatment activity.
