LETTER: School district deserves failing grade on newsletter, budget
I’ve been following the Daily Sentinel’s coverage of the Rome City School District’s attempts to build a budget. When I received the district’s budget newsletter, I was shocked to see that the district provided an “F” worthy effort. ROME — The Copper City Community Connection, 305 E. Locust St., recognized its next group of members to achieve the Presidents Active Lifestyle Award. Members of the latest group to achieve the lofty PALA standard worked to achieve a variety of healthy eating and physical activity goals established by the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness & Nutrition over an eight-week period. The awardees tallied 150 minutes of physical activity each week, along with meeting the healthy eating goals by eating six of nine components of the healthy eating pattern, including such things as limiting added sugars, saturated fats or reducing sodium intake.
