Clinton trio, Midway standout going to state

The Midway and Clinton golf teams participated in the NCHSAA 2A Mideast Regional Match on Monday up at The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club. Though neither team qualified as a whole, both schools will send individual players to compete in next week’s state championship event. Midway, as a team, just missed the cut, finishing in fifth place with a team score of 352. The Raiders send Kaison Marley to the State Championship round after he shot 83. For Clinton, the Dark Horses had three individual qualifiers. Finn Howard shot an 80, Brock Sumner an 86, and Hayden Boney an 87. The golf match next week will be a two-day event Monday and Tuesday and will take place at Stonebridge Golf Club in Monroe.
