    They got the look.

    After a week-long delay due to flooding within the county, the Annual Bosque Museum Docent’s Tea and Style Show went off without a hitch on Saturday, May 11.

    The Bosque Museum’s hall was full for the 'May in Manhattan'themed show that featured the latest fashions from four local Bosque County merchants.

    In addition, guests treated themselves to finger foods and tea as they waited to win door prizes and raffle items, such as purses and bags, wristlets, candleholders, wine, and a special bundt cake.

    Docent president and vicepresident Cindy Upton and cochair Karen Cornett welcomed the fashonistas to the show which was emceed by docent Linda McDowell.

    The clothing, accessories, hats, and shoes came from merchants in Meridian –Main Street Antiques and Interiors– as well as those in Clifton: Maize Grace, Albrecht’s Gift Shop, Market at the Mill, and Lady Bugs, all of Clifton.

    The volunteer models were Darci Allen, Kathy Harr, Laynie Miller, Isabella Powers, Rebecca Rushing, and Carla Sigler.

    Decided by the applause of the audience, the winner of the best hat contest was Mandy McCoy.

    Several friends of the Bosque Museum donated items for the raffle and door prizes: CLIFTEX Theatre, Pippy’s Petals, the 5th Street Market and Nursery, Joanne and Tom Blossom, Karen and Ken Cornett, Julie and Bryan Davis, Laynie and Jay Miller, Peggy Sue Reed, Carla and Vern Sigler, Darlene and John Thomas, and Cindy and Mike Upton.

    Sponsors for the tea and style show included Glen Chesshir, Cindy and Paul Leonard, Cindy and Mike Upton, Dr. Mimi and Barry Wright, Joanne and Tom Blossom, Darlene and John Thomas, and Susan Phillips.

    At the end of the show, the museum’s Executive Director Erin Shields encouraged the guests to enjoy the museum for the rest of the afternoon, noting that the John A. Lomax exhibit would be under renovation soon.

    “If you want to learn more about what we have going on, the best way to do that is with your with your membership,” she said.

    About the docents

    Now in their fourth decade, the Bosque Museum’s docents are a group of volunteers that lead tours and raise funds for the museum.

    Over the years, the docents have purchased new tables, a 14-foot lighted Christmas tree, and two octagon picnic tables for the Log Cabin Pavillion.
