David Njoku has become a fan favorite and one of the very best tight ends in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns.

Now, fans are probably going to like him a bit more. Njoku will soon host a charity softball game and during the lead-up to that, he took time to stand up for the city of Cleveland.

A few months ago Dallas Cowboys’ Micah Parsons had some not-so-good comments about the city and Njoku stopped him on the spot. Now, the Pro Bowl tight end is reassuring that he won’t accept any bashing of Cleveland.

“With [Micah] Parsons and the other idiot, just talking down on Cleveland is just something that I won’t accept no matter what. No matter what happens I will never accept it, so with that being said respect the city bro, it’s a very simple thing.”

Njoku has steadily improved over the last four years after a shaky start to his career. He wanted his first Pro Bowl nod last season when he had 882 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 16 games. Both of those numbers were career highs.

“I feel like Cleveland raised me from a boy to a man,” Njoku explained. “I got drafted at 20 years old you know, that was 7 or 8 years ago. I’m 27 now and I turn 28 in July, so just becoming a man in this city means more than most would think.”

Still not even 28 years old yet, Njoku very well still has untapped potential to reach in the NFL. They don’t make many tight ends that combine his athletic ability, speed, run after the catch, and blocking.

For most of his career, Njoku has dealt with some mediocre quarterback play. If Deshaun Watson can be the guy the Browns need in 2024, we could see another big season for Njoku.

The Cowboys will have to travel to play Cleveland this coming season and things are shaping up to be interesting.
