CLEVELAND (WJW) — In recent years, collectors have been on the lookout for special wheat pennies and rare $2 bills and other American money worth serious coin . It turns out some $1 bills, potentially tucked in our billfolds and between couch cushions this whole time, could also be worth thousands.

Americans now believe $1.46 million is necessary to retire comfortably

A mistake made by the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing back in 2014 and 2016 resulted in bills with duplicate serial numbers ending up in circulation, according to wealthynickel.com.

There are reportedly about 6.4 million $1 bills that have a matching pair, but as of April, only nine bills have been confirmed a match, meaning there many more out there.

Wealthy Nickel offered up these tips to seeing if the cash in your wallet could qualify:

  1. The series date next to George Washington should read “Series 2013”
  2. A “B” Federal Reserve seal needs to be seen above the serial number
  3. The numbers you’re looking for are B00000001* – B00250000* or B03200001*-B09600000*

If you believe you could have a winning bill, collectors have reportedly been willing to pay as much as $150,000 depending on quality. There are online databases to check and see if there’s a matching pair, but you can also reach out to collectors directly.
