Clemson Falls in Polls After Being Swept by Wake Forest - Tigers Fall in Polls after getting swept by Wake Forest

Heading into its weekend series at Wake Forest, Clemson was ranked as high as No. 2, but after getting swept for the first time this season, the Tigers have dropped in this weeks polls.

D1 Baseball only dropped Erik Bakich’s team two spots down to No. 4 this week. The Demon Deacons jumped up four spots to No. 8, after the impressive showing against the Tigers over the weekend.

“We just need to play better, they outplayed us all weekend,” Bakich said. “It wasn’t even close. They just outperformed us in all facets, coaching included. We just got to get back to playing good, which we will. We ran into a buzzsaw, they’re on a heater and playing really well.”

Baseball America is where Clemson took the biggest tumble, as the Tigers dropped six spots down to No. 10 in this weeks poll. North Carolina (4), Wake Forest (7) and NC State (9) are the ACC teams ranked higher than Clemson. The Wolfpack took two out of three from the Tigers at Doug Kingsmore a few weeks back.

Heading into the final week of the regular season, Clemson (37-13, 17-10) still has four big games left, as the program looks to lock up a Top-8 seed for the second consecutive season. The Tigers will travel to Conway on Tuesday for a midweek game against Coastal Carolina (30-21) before returning home and hosting Boston College (22-27, 8-19) for a three-game series that begins on Thursday.

Clemson currently sits at No. 7 in the RPI and will go into the weekend with a 1.5 game lead on Florida State in the ACC Atlantic standings.
