A Delbarton woman was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase earlier this week. According to the criminal complaint, on Nov. 26, an officer was on routine patrol on U.S. 119 near Borderland when he spotted a vehicle in the southbound lanes traveling at a high rate of speed.

WELCH, W. Va. (WVVA) -A new business held its grand opening in Welch, West Virginia, today on Saturday. But, this is no store or restaurant, however. This veteran-owned business specializes in slightly destructive fun. The Fortress: Rumble, Rage, and Recreation sells people the ability to let loose with ax throwing, rage rooms, airsoft or nerf wars, and more. The owner, Shannon Pace, says she was inspired to open this business after noticing there wasn’t much in the area for her two sons. Through feedback from kids and adults at Young Life and Welch Elementary, she created the Fortress with the goal of being an affordable way to have safe fun for all ages, without needing to drive an hour to get there.

Kermit, Delbarton and Gilbert all hosted their Christmas parades over the weekend. Each town had a successful event and featured a meet and greet with Santa following the parade. Each town also had multiple activities over the weekend including pancake breakfasts with Santa, as well as the return of the Great White Way to Delbarton and Christmas in Kermit Park. Gilbert operated its North Pole experience following its parade Saturday, which is officially sold out for the season.

WILLIAMSON — Two groups of Mingo County High School children were given special recognition at the Mingo County School Board meeting on Nov 28. One group of children led by Josh Endicott, the Law and Public Safety instructor, were given special recognition for attending an event at the FBI Academy. Here students were able to get an insight on some of the inner workings and processes completed by the FBI. This year 100 spots were open for students, and 18 of those spots were filled by Mingo County students.
