Paxton Police Blotter: Indiana woman arrested for DUI after cops stop her speeding vehicle
PAXTON — The Paxton Police Department released the following list of recent activity:. — Cecelia E. Smith, 41, of Lafayette, Ind., was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and ticketed for illegal transportation of adult-use cannabis and speeding during a traffic stop at 11:58 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, near the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Orleans Street. The traffic stop was conducted after Paxton police allegedly clocked Smith traveling at 58 mph in a 35-mph speed zone while driving a 2001 GMC Terrain east on Ottawa Road near Elm Street on Paxton’s west side. During the traffic stop, Smith allegedly failed field-sobriety testing. A breath test registered her blood alcohol content at 0.140, nearly twice the legal limit. The vehicle she was driving was seized by police under city ordinance.

Paxton Police Blotter: Farmer City man arrested for meth
PAXTON — The Paxton Police Department released the following list of recent activity:. — Jeremy L. Smolek, 25, of Farmer City, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended driver’s license and operating an uninsured vehicle during a traffic stop at 1:55 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the intersection of Orleans and Washington streets on Paxton’s east side. The traffic stop was conducted after a Paxton police officer, who was aware from previous contacts with Smolek that his license was suspended, saw Smolek driving a 1991 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck while pulling another vehicle using a tow strap. During the traffic stop, police confirmed that Smolek’s license was suspended, and a search of the truck revealed the presence of several containers containing suspected methamphetamine totaling about 5 grams, as well as two glass pipes used to smoke methamphetamine. The truck was seized by police under city ordinance.

BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WNDU) - A pedestrian is dead after police say they were hit by a car while they were in a wheelchair late Thursday night in Benton Township. Officers were called just after 10 p.m. to the intersection of E. Napier Avenue and Milton Street. When they arrived, they said the pedestrian, a 59-year-old Benton Harbor resident, had already been pronounced dead by paramedics.

CISSNA PARK – The St. John’s seventh-grade volleyball team won 28-26, 25-9 over Donovan in the IESA Class 1A regional quarterfinals on Saturday. The Eagles went 49-for-50 from the serving line as Etta Teske, Kinley Beyers, Ava Jungels and Tinley Eichelberger each had one ace. Illinois Woman Dies In Interstate 24 Crash
A Watseka, Illinois woman was killed and a man was injured in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 24 in Christian County on Friday afternoon. Christian County Sheriff’s deputies said 85-year-old Roland Heuton fell asleep while getting onto I-24 eastbound from Pennyrile Parkway and ran off the road. Heuton’s SUV traveled between 50 and 100 yards down an embankment and struck a rock ditch.

Timberwolves hold off Falcons, win first sectional since 2014
COLFAX — Cissna Park girls’ basketball went down to the wire to do something it hadn’t done in a decade on Thursday night. Fifteen points on five three-pointers from Josie Neukomm helped the Timberwolves hold off Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley for a 43-42 victory in a double-overtime thriller worthy of its high stakes that yielded Cissna Park’s first Class 1A sectional plaque since the 2013-14 season.
