Imari Berry, a five-star guard from Clarksville, commits to Louisville women's basketball

Clarksville five-star guard Imari Berry announced Saturday she has committed to Louisville women's basketball.

Berry, the No. 19 player in the Class of 2024 in the ESPN HoopGurlz rankings, chose the Cardinals and coach Jeff Walz over Kentucky and North Carolina.

Berry signed with Clemson last November, but was released from her letter of intent when coach Amanda Butler was fired in March.

Berry averaged 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 4.1 steals, shot 50% from the field and hit 102 3-pointers during a senior season which saw her become a Miss Basketball finalist for the third straight season and win the award for the first time, as well as being named Gatorade Player of the Year in Tennessee. She led the Wildcats to a 31-1 season and a TSSAA Class 4A state tournament quarterfinal appearance.

Louisville went 24-10 this past season and tied for fifth in the ACC with a 12-6 record. The Cardinals qualified for their 13th straight NCAA Tournament, earning a No. 6 seed, but lost in the first round to Middle Tennessee State.
