CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A woman has been charged after officers say they found drugs after finding her under a bridge in Clarksburg.

On April 28, officers with the Clarksburg Police Department went to the “underside of the 4th Street Bridge” near Werninger Street for a premises check, according to a criminal complaint.

When officers rounded the corner of one of the bridge’s support columns, they said they noticed two individuals, one of whom was identified as Delores Brannon, 49, of Lost Creek, who “unlocked her gray backpack and began digging through it.”

During that time, officers said they “observed paraphernalia” and “a white powder substance,” which later field tested positive as methamphetamine. Officers then performed a full search of Brannon’s possessions which resulted in them finding 8.27 grams of methamphetamine, 0.37 grams of fentanyl, unused plastic bags, a pocket scale and $149.85 in cash, the complaint said.

Brannon has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
