Evans man reports wife to sheriff's office for alleged bigamy
An Evans man is requesting a warrant be issued for his wife's arrest after he found out she was not divorced from her first husband until after they were married. The 56-year-old Evans man this week told Columbia County Sheriff's Office deputies that he found paperwork stating his wife was not divorced from her first husband until after he and his wife were married at the Columbia County Justice Center, according to an incident report.
Richmond County sheriff's deputy charged for his alleged involvement in fatal wreck
A Richmond County Sheriff's Office deputy was booked into the Burke County Detention Center on Friday for his alleged involvement in a fatal vehicle crash. Ty Dailey, 37, of Augusta, was booked into the detention center just before 8:30 a.m. and is charged with homicide by vehicle in the second degree and driving in excess of the posted speed limit, according to a news release from the Burke County Sheriff's Office.
Sunny, warm Mother’s Day weekend in store for the CSRA
Friday night update: It’s going to be a beautiful Mother’s Day weekend! It will be comfortable to be outside with lower dew points and high temperatures near 80 degrees. If you are heading out late, you might want to pack a light jacket due to the crisp lows in the lower 50s. If you believed the storms were over, think again! Next week looks to bring a very wet pattern, with showers and storms nearly every day. It is too early to tell if there will be severe weather. We will continue to monitor trends and keep you posted. The high temperatures will range from the upper 70s to the mid-80s.
Man Accused in Laken Riley’s Murder Indicted by Grand Jury
A Clarke County grand jury has indicted the man accused of killing Laken Riley, a nursing student from Woodstock, in February. Riley, a 22-year-old student at the University of Augusta, was found dead Feb. 22 on the University of Georgia campus in Athens after she did not return home from a run earlier that day. One More Round of Storms Friday Morning
The threat of severe weather for today is OVER! We had numerous severe thunderstorm warnings over nearly a 12 hour period. There has been confirmed wind damage with trees down in Saluda, McCormick, Columbia, Edgefield, and Bamberg counites. There is no confirmed hail, and we did not have any tornadoes. There was also minor flooding, but rainfall totals did not exceed 2 inches. Showers are over with for the northern and central portions of the CSRA, and it will become completely dry within the next couple of hours. Mostly cloudy tonight with lows in the mid to upper 60s.
