    Johnson Freshman Cassie Conforti Breaks 100 Strikeouts for Season in Win Over Westfield

    CLARK, NJ — ALJ softball pitcher Cassie Conforti has now pitched over 100 strikeouts in her freshman season, securing the feat in a home game against Westfield on Friday. The Crusaders defeated the Blue Devils, 7-0.

    Conforti entered the game with 94 strikeouts. In a complete game shutout, she added 12 more to that total for 106 overall.

    Along with the strikeouts, in just under 90 innings pitched thus far, Conforti has allowed just 73 hits and walked 23 batters. Her ERA is an impressive 1.95.

    Against Westfield, senior Lacey Vill led the Crusaders with three hits (3 singles).

    Sophomores Lilly Fitzharris (1 single, 1 triple) and Elizabeth Yanni (1 double, 1 home run) had two hits apiece.

    Conforti (single), senior Madden Puerari (double), senior Krista LaBianca (double), and freshman Courtney Kilmer (single) each had a hit.

    The next day, Saturday, the Crusaders defeated Chatham at home, 10-0. LaBianca was the winning pitcher with a one-hit shutout.

    Fitzharris and Vill had three hits apiece. LaBianca had two hits. Conforti, freshmen Addison Meyer, and junior Gabby Muretta had a hit apiece.

    The Crusaders next play Cranford, away, on Monday, May 6, at 4 p.m.
