Two hospitals in the state — Covington County Hospital in Collins and South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel — are partnering up to reopen Patients' Choice Medical Center, a hospital in Raleigh that closed earlier this year. The shuttered facility made headlines after it sat vacant for three months without notifying the state's health department that it had closed, according to Mississippi Today.

Two incidents occurred in Laurel, Mississippi this week. In the first incident, two individuals were injured in a shooting at One Stop on Ellisville Boulevard. One suspect, Jordan Atkins, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, while another suspect, Ke'Tarius McLeod, is currently wanted on the same charges. In the second incident, a murder suspect, Douglas Haynes, was arrested in Moselle after being wanted since September. Haynes has been charged with murder and felony possession of a firearm.

HEIDELBERG, Miss. (WDAM) - An early morning wreck involving multiple 18-wheelers has shut down southbound traffic on I-59 near Heidelberg. Hudson Jenkins, director of the Jasper County Emergency Management Agency, said the wreck involved three 18-wheeler tractor-trailers and a pick-up truck with a gooseneck trailer. He also reported that two people were injured, and the overpass bridge and guardrail were damaged.
