New Signage Planned for Fire Station

A new electronic sign funded by a Federal Emergency Management Agency Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant is being put out for bid. The Board of Supervisors on November 5 approved the bidding process for the sign to be placed at Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company’s Park Station on Route 19. The sign will be paid for by the SAFER Grant, which was awarded to the Company in 2023.

Pittsburgh apartment rentals see slight price increase since last year

Renters in Pittsburgh saw apartment listing prices slightly increase from September 2025's median of $1,500, an analysis of new data from rental marketplace Zumper shows. The typical apartment listed for rent at $1,537 in September. Median listing prices in Pittsburgh are trending essentially the same as the previous month's $1,550 price. The data covers all bedroom sizes, ranging from studios to four-bedroom units, within the specified metropolitan area. It reflects the median rent for all listings that were active at any given point during the month, according to Russell Middleton, co-founder of Zumper. New construction is included in the data and listings that are currently occupied or no longer available are excluded. data.timesonline.com Out of 3,017 rental listings in Pittsburgh, 11 are subsidized. When those are excluded, the overall median rent for listed apartments goes to $1,532. One-bedroom apartments listed to rent at a median of $1,350, slightly lower than August, when they were $1,370. Since September 2025, one-bedroom rental prices slightly rose from $1,300. Two-bedroom apartments listed for rent were basically flat to August at a central price of $1,610, compared to $1,600. EPA Acts on Three State Landfill Emission Plans in One Day

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) took three actions Nov. 5 on how existing municipal solid waste landfills in Arizona, West Virginia and Pennsylvania will meet its 2016 emission guidelines. EPA finalized the West Virginia plan, effective Dec. 7, and proposed approving a Maricopa County plan and a delegation of the federal plan to the Allegheny County Health Department. Polish Hill Shelter Plan Splits Neighbors Ahead of Nov. 12 Zoning Vote

A vacant commercial building on Bigelow Boulevard in Pittsburgh's Polish Hill neighborhood could soon become a year-round overflow shelter for people experiencing homelessness, and the proposal has split the community right down the middle. Allegheny County's Department of Human Services wants to convert the property at 3567 Bigelow Boulevard into a low-barrier shelter offering 80 to 100 beds nightly, with the ability to expand to 150 beds during severe winter weather. The city's Zoning Board of Adjustment is set to take the matter up again next Thursday, Nov. 12.

Beaver County plans events to observe Veterans Day 2026

Beaver County will salute its military veterans with some special events in honor of Veterans Day, Nov. 11 . Because Nov. 11 is also a federal holiday, the county courthouse and other government offices will be closed. There will be no U.S. mail delivery and many local banks will also be closed. Here are some of the events planned to honor veterans in and around Beaver County. A "Salute to Veterans: Honoring Service, Inspiring Community" event is taking place from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Nov. 7 along 10th Street in downtown New Brighton. The free community-oriented event to honor veterans starts with a flag raising ceremony led by the PA District 37 Freemasons and members of the American Legion, along with the singing of the National Anthem by local student Kash Stevenson. Other activities include touch-a-truck with fire, medic, law enforcement and military vehicles, children's activities by WQED, Home Depot and Neighborhood North Museum of Play, local vendors and food trucks and veterans organizations offering information and resources for veterans and their families.
