Fox tests positive for rabies in Cisco

CISCO, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – The City of Cisco announced a positive case in rabies after a fox bit a cat.

According to the announcement on Wednesday, the fox tested positive after it was euthanized on Tuesday when Cisco Animal Control responded to the bite incident.

The city asks that anyone who may have crossed paths with the fox to call the Disease Surveillance and Epidemiology Section line at (512) 776-7676. If you’ve been bitten or scratched, you should seek medical attention immediately.

“By taking precautions and informing our community of cases like this one, we can minimize the potential for exposure and encourage any humans or pets to seek medical care if they encounter any other wildlife acting unusual,” the City of Cisco wrote.

Additionally, it is encouraged that all pets, especially those with outdoors access, to be vaccinated against rabies.
