On Stage: The Smithereens just keep on going, come to Sellersville

The rib-eye here is sliced fresh and never chopped. In a city that loves to argue about chopped versus sliced, that’s a bold choice. I like a place that picks a side and sticks with it. The name is bold too. The founder called his shop the Prince, a...

7 Feast of the Seven Fishes dishes Italian-American families made for Christmas Eve, from fried baccalà to octopus salad

Christmas Eve in Italian-American households across New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Brooklyn meant a table loaded with fish and nothing else. The practice comes from the Roman Catholic observance of abstaining from meat on the vigil of Christmas. In Southern Italian families, that abstinence became an occasion, and those families carried it to South Philly, Bensonhurst, and Newark's First Ward. In Italy the meal was La Vigilia; in America it picked up a new name, the Feast of the Seven Fishes.

Those Red Carpets Spreading Across The New Jersey Pine Barrens Aren’t Flowers And Here’s What They Are

Every fall, whole fields in the woods turn the color of a stop sign, and they float. I first saw one from a sandy back road in New Jersey and honestly thought someone had spilled paint across a pond. The color is not petals, leaves, or algae. It shows up...

Let’s drink to that! A New Jersey suburb voted Tuesday to ditch its 138-year-old prohibition on liquor licenses, paving the way for booze sales. Located in Camden County — roughly six miles outside Philadelphia — the borough of Collingswood had been famously dry for generations before residents backed the binding referendum , according to NJ.com. A view shows the Collingswood Commercial Historic District looking north from near 923 Haddon Ave. Saucemaster, CC BY-SA 3.0, via Wikimedia Commons “The outcome represents an important change for Collingswood, and the governing body is committed to approaching the next steps thoughtfully, transparently and in a manner that reflects the interests of the community,” town officials said in a statement after the vote. Collingswood has a population of about 14,000, according to census data . Town authorities plan to starting dishing out liquor licenses after establishing official guidelines for operating hours and permit fees, the outlet reported. Drunk flyer exposes himself at gate —
