For fans looking to mix horsepower with horse racing, Ford’s Garage is the place to be with its Kentucky Derby goings-on. The 1920s garage-themed burger and craft beer restaurant chain, which has a location at 13193 Levinson Lane in Noblesville, is doing watch parties and giveaways as part of the 10 Days of Derby countdown to the 150th Kentucky Derby in a collaboration with Ford Motor Company, Churchill Downs Racetrack and the Kentucky Derby.

Sculpting a vision: Accomplished artist wants to establish roots, gallery in Noblesville
Artist Kenneth Rydén wants to share his creativity with the City of Noblesville through his sculpture work. A Chicago native, Rydén recently moved to Noblesville with his wife, Melan, to “write a new chapter in their story.” He sculpts full time and previously owned a studio in Yorktown, where he worked with communities, architects and others on commission pieces. He works out of the garage in his Noblesville home, which he turned into a makeshift studio.

WHILE IT MAY be closing in on 100,000 residents today, in 1920, Fishers was a railroad town of just under 150 that had only recently dropped the word “Switch” from its name. At the start of Prohibition, there likely weren’t many speakeasies in town with wingback chairs, shimmery flocked wallpaper, and bars wrapped in sculpted tin tiles. That Louisville-based Endeavor Restaurant Group is aiming for just such a low-lit vintage aesthetic at its newest restaurant venture may be surprising, given that everything in Fishers’ rapidly developing downtown seems aimed at showing off contemporary suburban ingenuity. But Cooper & Cow pulls off the retro mystique, both in its sparkle and in its soft-spoken vibe, giving hope that quiet, elegant dinner spots are back in style.
