    HF-L girls lacrosse, Churchville-Chili baseball earn wins

    Girls Lacrosse

    Honeoye Falls-Lima 16, Churchville-Chili 5

    The Cougars scored early and often, using a 7-1 first quarter and an 11-4 halftime advantage to secure their third win in the last four games.

    Shaye Angelo led the way with five goals and three assists for HF-L. Paige Kidd had five goals and an assist. Katie Adams had two goals. Rylee Bennett, Harper Jacob, Jenna Lawrence, and Camryn Trybuskiewicz each had a goal. Lily Brady made seven saves for the Cougars.

    Playing stiff competition, HF-L started the year off with a 1-5 record. But the Cougars have gone 5-2 since as the 11-time defending Class C champs round into form.

    HF-L (6-7) will be tested on Friday, May 10th when they host Victor. Churchville-Chili (6-7) will visit Mynderse/Romulus on Tuesday, May 14th.

    Baseball

    Churchville-Chili 2, Brighton 1

    Aaron Reina and Bobby Rule both plated runs as the Saints improved to 13-4 on the season.

    Brighton’s Wesley Sturrup started the scoring with a solo home run to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.

    But the Saints answered in the 4th when Reina hit an RBI single to right to score Lucas Karelus.

    Churchville-Chili took the lead in the 5th on a sac-fly to deep left by Rule, scoring Chase Shepanski.

    Karelus got the start and recorded eight strikeouts over 6.1 innings with five hits allowed and one earned run. Drew Stewart recorded the final two outs of the game. James Derleth had a multi-hit game for the Saints, going 2-3.

    Zachary Oravec had 3 strikeouts and pitched all six innings for the Bruins. Will Pecor and Noah Wagner had a pair of hits for Brighton.

    Churchville-Chili (13-4) currently occupies the 2nd seed in the Class AA standings. They’ll travel to Fairport on Thursday, May 9th while Brighton (7-8) will travel to Irondequoit on the same evening.
