The Big Rivers track and field Championships were held at New Richmond on Monday and both the boys and girls competitions crowned championships. Hudson won the boys title while Chippewa Falls won the girls championship.

Both the Raiders and Cardinals were the top two teams in team scoring. Chippewa Falls outlasted Hudson by 1.5 points on the girls side with a score of 117.5. Eau Claire Memorial was the only other team that finished with above 100 points, placing the Old Abes in third.

Hudson’s 120 in the boys meet put it three points clear of Chippewa Falls. Memorial again placed third with a score of 106.

On the girls side, Chippewa Falls’ title win was due in no small part to junior Ava Krista who won the triple jump, high jump and the long jump.

While Rice Lake as a team placed just fourth in the girls scores with 90, Eliana Sheplee did win three evens. Sheplee took the gold in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dash. Menomonie sophomore Lauren McCalla took home individual wins in the 800 and 1600 meter run.

On the boys side, Eau Claire Memorial senior Parker Dewey won a pair of events in the 800 and 1600 meter run. Dewey’s teammate Will Pogonis won the 3200 meter run. The Old Abes also won the 4x100.

Chippewa Falls finished second in the 4x200 relay and won the 4x400 with the team of Ethan Faschingbauer , Jackson LeMay, Carter Bowe and Samuel Hebert getting the win. Cardinals junior Simon Fish also won the 300 meter hurdles.
