MANITOWOC — The 81-year-old Valders man who died Tuesday in a car crash has been identified as Glenroy Perronne by the Manitowoc County Coroner's Office. Perronne died after his pickup truck collided with a semitruck in the intersection of State 42 and U.S. 151 in Manitowoc, according to the Manitowoc Police Department.

BRILLION − A pair of state appearances over the past three seasons has pushed the Brillion boys basketball team up a division for the next three seasons. The Lions made back-to-back WIAA Division 3 state tournament appearances in 2021-22 and 2022-23, including a state title in 2023. That put Brillion at the six-point threshold that moves the Lions up to Division 2 this upcoming winter season.

OSHKOSH ― A teacher at Vel Phillips Middle School has been placed on leave after being accused of using a racial slur Tuesday. In a letter obtained by the Northwestern and verified by Oshkosh Area School District Communication Director Katie Nieman, Vel Phillips Middle School Principal Kristi Levy notified parents of children in the affected classroom of the allegations.

MANITOWOC - An 81-year-old Valders man died Tuesday afternoon after a pickup truck was struck by a semitruck, according to the Manitowoc Police Department. The man was driving a truck westbound on Calumet Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. when he turned in front of a eastbound semi while attempting to head south on State 42, according to a preliminary investigation.
