Get your team ready for the 2024 Sand in the Streets Tournament

CHILLICOTHE — The 2024 Sand in the Streets event has been scheduled. This year's event will be an action-packed weekend of beach volleyball excitement right in the heart of Downtown Chillicothe. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or just looking for some recreational fun, there's something for everyone.

The kickoff Battle on the Beach event will take place at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 23 on North Paint Street. For this special event teams will consist of family members and coaches of the eight Scioto Valley Conference schools and Chillicothe High School. These teams will battle for a chance to win $1,000 to go back into the winning school's volleyball program.

After Battle on the Beach, the sand will transition into the BeachFest scene with live music, dancing and fun with sand toys. These are all family-friendly events and take place right on the sand.

The rest of the weekend will consist of tournaments between three divisions, open/AA, competitive A/BB and Recreational. Each division will have a first and second place prize for winners. Games are set to start around 9 a.m. on North Paint Street between Main Street and 2nd Street.

Those interested in registering their team for the tournaments and the Battle of the Beach can do so online through Downtown Chillicothe starting on May 1.

Proceeds from this weekend will go back into our downtown and provide things such as flowers, Christmas lights, free programs for our businesses, alley beautification projects, signage, and banners.
