Thin-sliced roast beef, a salty caraway roll, and a smear of horseradish make up one of the most loved sandwiches in New York. Beef on weck is a Western New York classic, and the best versions come from taverns, diners, and butcher-style counters that have been perfecting it for years.

The 10 Remote Finger Lakes, New York Diners Most Travelers Never Find

Breakfast at one country diner can cost less than a fancy coffee, and I love that math. The doors open at 5 AM, so early birds can dig in before most alarms even ring. Getting to places like that usually means leaving the busy lakeside traffic far behind you. You’ll roll down quiet county roads between the lakes, where the towns seem to get smaller with every mile.

5 Best Restaurants in Rochester, New York You Need to Try Before Everyone Else Finds Them

Rochester, New York — a city where the Genesee River tumbles through old brick mills and lilacs bloom in the spring, where the laughter of college students mingles with the wisdom of old-timers, and the scent of coffee, barbecue, and fresh bread drifts through neighborhoods stitched together by memory and migration. Here, the architecture is a patchwork: grand mansions on East Avenue, sturdy worker’s cottages, and the gentle sprawl of new ambition. Rochester is a city where the snow falls deep and the spirit runs deeper — where families gather at festivals, artists paint the city’s story, and every meal is a celebration of resilience and reinvention.

Roc Lobster brings fresh seafood to the (585)

The shores of Lake Ontario might not be brimming with lobster, but it’s not hard to find a top-tier, fresh, juicy roll right in the (585). I like a lot of foods, but seafood is my favorite, and I don’t think that will ever change. East Coast and West Coast, I’ve had it all, seafood in every coastal town from Newport, Oregon, down to San Francisco, California, Long Island to Boston. So when it comes to seafood, if I say it’s good, it’s good. And Roc Lobster? Very good.

Fairport’s Compané Trattoria offers a new generation of Italian cooking

The cheese tray at the brewery was built for four people, not the crowd of us circling it like vultures fifteen minutes into a two-hour panel discussion. We stood there staring at what looked like a Polly Pocket accessory, doing the math on how a roomful of thirty adults were supposed to split eleven cubes of pepper jack.

We Ranked The 10 Best Eastern European Restaurants In New York And Here Are The Results

One of the best plates of pierogi in New York comes out of a former church. I did not see that coming, and honestly, it feels a little perfect for food this comforting. Eastern European cooking has always felt a little sacred to me, like a family ritual. Recipes like these crossed oceans in someone’s memory, and they still taste like home to the families who carried them.

Charming bakeshop opens in historic building in Caledonia | Exclusive

Ever since Alexxis Ellison was in college, she's wanted to run a coffee shop that served her own scratch-made baked goods. She's opened something pretty close − but with more of an emphasis on the baked goods − in the Village of Caledonia, Livingston County. Baby Cakes Bakeshop is a quaint destination that serves baked goods alongside espresso beverages prepared with house-made syrups. The offerings change seasonally but you'll usually find banana bread, mini cheesecakes, cake slices, coffee cake, muffins, loaves and more. The sweet treats may be enjoyed with hot and cold espresso beverages, including lattes, cappuccinos and Americanos. The inviting space is decorated in pink and red, and gold chandeliers flood the room with light. Orders are placed at a counter and there's seating for up to 16 people. The shop also offers special-order cakes for special occasions such as weddings. The story behind Baby Cakes Bakeshop Alexxis Ellison has fond memories of all things cooking while growing up in Hilton. Her father has a VHS tape of her baking a Barbie cake with him at age 4. Her stepmother was an avid baker who amassed a huge assortment of baking gear. She enjoyed watching cooking and baking
