CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Petros Breakfast and Lunch on Front Street in Chicopee celebrated their grand reopening Thursday morning.

The restaurant has been a staple in the Chicopee community for several years and has now been passed on to the next generation. Justin Mayer and his mother Robin are now the new owners of the business. Justin started working at Petros as a dishwater and has worked his way up the business to become the new owner.

“It’s kind of surreal. This was kind of my first job, I started here at the age of 17 just as a dishwasher, I’d would mop the floors and do the dishes. So now, ten years later, to own it… it’s surreal. I was a little kid in this place, this was my first job and now I have the full responsibility of the place,” said Justin.

Under this new ownership, Petros will remain open on the corner of Front Street and Grape Street. Chicopee Mayor John Vieau along with Brigette Heley from Senator Velis’s office, Vice President of City Council Bob Zygarowski, City Councilor Abigail Arriaga, and Melissa Breor from the Chicopee Chamber of Commerce celebrated the business’s grand reopening Thursday morning.

The Chicopee Mayor’s Office stated, “Congratulations, Justin! Your dedication and passion inspire us all. Here’s to Petros and the bright future ahead!”
