White Sox to Recall Zach DeLoach with Eloy Jimenez Injured; Nick Nastrini to Start Wednesday

The Chicago White Sox finally snapped their four-game losing streak on Tuesday with a convincing 5-0 win against the Toronto Blue Jays . Garrett Crochet won his fourth straight start and combined for a two-hitter with the bullpen. The Pale Hose had three clutch two-out hits that plated all five runs. But on Corey Julks' two-run single in the fifth, the inevitable happened.

Eloy Jimenez came up limp while rounding third and exited the game. The designated hitter scored but strained his left hamstring along the way. The injury is unsurprising to anyone as Jimenez has a long history of soft-tissue injuries. He landed on the injured list in April with a left adductor strain. The 27-year-old will undergo further evaluation to determine the extent of the injury.

Same Old Story

The South Siders are familiar with Jimenez being absent, and in his stead, they're set to promote outfielder Zach DeLoach from Triple-A Charlotte. DeLoach joined the White Sox organization in an offseason trade with the Seattle Mariners. The lefty slashed .263/.358/.351 in 159 plate appearances with Triple-A Charlotte to begin the season.

The Mariners' 2020 second-round pick is known for his ability to get on base. Despite a significant drop-off from his .868 OPS last season, the lefty has maintained an 11.9% walk rate. DeLoach is primarily a right fielder who can handle all three outfield positions.

Zach DeLoach will join the White Sox in Toronto along with Charlotte Knights teammate Nick Nastrini. In Wednesday's series finale, Nastrini will take the mound to conclude a six-game road trip.

Chicago has six potential outfield options, but Gavin Sheets will likely handle DH duties with Jimenez sidelined. DeLoach will be in the mix with Tommy Pham, Dominic Fletcher, Corey Julks, and Andrew Benintendi for playing time.
