The Chicago Sky added three rookies to their roster during the 2024 WNBA Draft on April 15.

Their first pick in the draft was No. 3 overall, which they used to select Kamilla Cardoso.

Chicago's second pick in the draft was No. 7 overall. This is when they drafted the "Chi Barbie", Angel Reese.

And with their No. 13 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, the Chicago Sky selected Brynna Maxwell, a guard out of Gonzaga.

Then Maxwell suffered a knee injury early on during training camp. As a result, she couldn't practice or play with the team.

And on Monday morning, the Sky announced that they had waived Maxwell, just two days before their WNBA regular season begins.

Social media is in shock about the Sky cutting one of their newest rookies.

"Brynna deserved to be on this team and definitely deserves to be in the league. I am rooting for her to get healthy and get picked up by a team this season or Golden State in the expansion draft." One fan wrote.

"Disappointing…now that the W has provided chartered flights, we can move on to team and roster expansion," said another.

Hopefully Maxwell will receive another chance elsewhere.
