Angel Reese ‘maximizes’ 24 hours by starring for Sky day after Met Gala

The Chi Barbie proved she can rule a red carpet and get buckets within 24 hours.

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese took a private jet to New York to attend her first Met Gala on Monday — and then finished with 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting and five rebounds in a dominant 101-53 preseason win over the Liberty on Tuesday night.

Reese emphasized that she made the most of the 24 hours she had to celebrate her 22nd birthday, which fell on Met Monday, before playing in her second career preseason game.

“Maximize them 24hrs,” Reese wrote on X after the game, which took place at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, adding a smirking face emoji.

Reese — the Sky’s No. 7 overall pick in the draft out of LSU — looked stunning in a custom dress by British label 16Arlington on the red carpet.

The seafoam green ensemble featured feathers, a plunging neckline and a sheer split skirt.

“So now yall can delete them drafts & tweets saying i shouldn’t have gone to the met gala & i can’t do both. I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME,” Reese wrote on X along with a halo emoji.

Reese praised the Chicago coaching staff for allowing her to briefly step away from the team to attend the Met Gala and live out her dream at one of fashion’s biggest nights.

“Today was a success,” Reese said in a TikTok video after the Met, where she spent time with rapper Cardi B. “I was able to play the game I love, but also live in the fashion world and do everything I’ve always dreamed about.”

Tuesday’s preseason matchup was only open to Sky season ticket holders and featured appearances by Bears draft picks Caleb Williams (No. 1) and Rome Odunze (No. 9), as well as veteran wideout Keenan Allen.

Bulls guard Coby White also sat courtside, as seen in photos the WNBA posted on X.

Reese previously explained that she and Williams have been friends since before they went pro.

“We talked when he got drafted,” Reese said in a recent interview with NBC Chicago. “I don’t know when he’s going to be here but we’re all going to hang out. My friends are coming down and we’re all going to hang out because we’re all cool, so I’m excited.”

Reese and Williams both grew up in the DMV area (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) and were friends before they went pro.

“That’s my dog. Me and Caleb are cool,” she said . “One of my good friends is best friends with him that are in my friend group. So, we’re all from the DMV area. Just being able to have another DMV tie.”
