(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The massive expansion of Chicago O’Hare International Airport appears to be a “go.”

United Airlines and American Airlines have both signed off on Mayor Johnson's plan to salvage construction of a global terminal and two satellite concourses.

The Terminal Area Program (TAP) aims to modernize the airport. The priority being the Global Terminal.

The timeline for that terminal, which will replace Terminal 2, has been moved up. The development of satellite concorses has been delayed.

“We look forward to prioritizing the O'Hare Global Terminal to bring benefits to the traveling public sooner, while providing thousands of jobs and contracting opportunities to Chicago,” Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office said in a released statement.
