Dog found abandoned, tied to tree continues to recover

West Deer Township Animal Shelter has provided a positive update on the dog that was tied to a tree in McCandless earlier this month.

Josie was left abandoned, tied to a tree in the rain in McCandless.

Officials say she had her first surgery for a tumor last week and a biopsy showed it was benign.

“Her stitches were removed today and she is doing really well!” a Facebook post.

Once she is healed, she’ll have to undergo another surgery to remove a thyroid tumor.

An employee told KDKA Radio that it will likely be a month after the first surgery.
