    Bohemia Manor baseball, Rising Sun softball earn top seeds in MPSSAA region playoffs

    Already a week into the month of May, the playoff season is upon us for spring sports across the state. MPSSAA softball and baseball teams learned the opening round matchups for the regional playoffs set to begin later this week.

    Here’s a breakdown of Cecil County brackets across Class 1A and Class 2A.

    1A North Region I Baseball

    Following a 13-win regular season, Bohemia Manor (13-4) received an opening round bye as the top-seed in its region. The Eagles finished the regular season tied with the same win percentage as Harford Tech. Two wins against the Cobras during the regular season vaulted Bo Manor into the top-seed. Perryville (6-10) holds the No. 5 seed in the region and will face No. 4 Patterson Mill (7-11) in the region quarterfinals. The winner of the Huskies and Panthers will face Bo Manor in the region semifinals.

    Region Breakdown: 1. Bohemia Manor 2. Harford Tech 3. Havre de Grace 4. Patterson Mill 5. Perryville 6. Joppatowne

    2A East Region I Baseball

    After securing a one-run win over Elkton in the final game of the regular season, North East (12-6) solidified a bye in the opening round of regionals. The Indians are the two-seed and will face the victor of No. 3 C.M. Wright (9-6) and No. 6 North Harford (6-12). Elkton (10-8) is the No. 4 seed and will get a home game in the first round against No. 5 Rising Sun (8-9). The Elks defeated the Tigers in the pair’s only regular season meeting. The victor will visit top-seed Fallston (10-5).

    Region Breakdown: 1. Fallston 2. North East 3. C. Milton Wright 4. Elkton 5. Rising Sun 6. North Harford

    1A East Region I Softball

    Bohemia Manor’s softball team holds the second-seed in its region after finishing the year with a 9-9 record. With only five teams in the region, the top three teams including Colonel Richardson (13-5), Bo and St. Michael’s (7-10) received an automatic bid to the region semifinals. Bo Manor will host No. 3 St. Michael’s. Perryville (7-10) will host a region quarterfinals game against No. 5 Kent County (2-15) with the winner facing top-seed Colonel Richardson in the region semis.

    Region Breakdown: 1. Colonel Richardson 2. Bohemia Manor 3. St. Michael’s 4. Perryville 5. Kent County

    2A East Region I Softball

    Rising Sun’s state title defense of Class 2A starts atop its region. The top-seed Tigers finished the year with an 18-0 record. Elkton (15-2) holds the two-seed after losing just two games all year. The two met once during the regular season with Sun knocking off the Elks in a one-run victory. With both teams getting a bye in the first round, the Tigers will await the victor of No. 4 North Harford (7-11) and No. 5 North East (5-13). Elkton will host No. 3 C. Milton Wright (8-8) in the region semifinals.
