CHP seeks help finding driver who fatally hit Hemet man
California Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help identifying the motorist who ran over and killed Elder Oswaldo Mazariegos Lopez in the unincorporated community of Valle Vista, east of Hemet, then fled the scene.

During the last week, San Jacinto reported a total of 109 crime cases, with a diverse range of incidents. The most common crime was categorized as 'Other', accounting for 32 cases, which included public disturbances and situations involving danger to self or others. Theft was the second most frequent crime, with 18 incidents, followed closely by trespassing and suspicious situations, with 15 and 14 cases respectively. Assault was also prevalent, with 13 reported cases. Less frequent but still significant were vandalism and burglary, each with 5 cases. There were also 2 cases each of arguments and hit & runs. More severe crimes such as shooting, robbery, and arrest were less common, each with only 1 case reported. These statistics indicate a need for continued vigilance and proactive measures to ensure public safety in the place.
