Seattle begins October with dry weather following an unseasonably cool month
Seattle just wrapped up an unusually cool September, the coldest September here since 2007, with an average temperature of 60.4 degrees, more than two degrees below normal. Despite the cool weather, we didn’t have much rain. In fact, Seattle had just 80 days with measurable rain through the first nine months of the year. That’s a record low, beating the old record of 82 days set last year and in 1979. Normally, we’d have about 105 rainy days by this point.

Brush fire burns in Renton neighborhood; no injuries reported
SEATTLE — A brush fire started burning in a Renton neighborhood late Friday morning after a caller reported flames in a neighbor’s yard. Dylan Heitman, deputy fire marshal III and public information officer for the Renton Regional Fire Authority, said a person called at 11:51 a.m. to report that a neighbor’s yard was on fire near Southeast 170th Street and 196th Avenue Southeast in Renton.
