Marine officials recover body found in Casco Bay
PORTLAND, Maine — A body was recovered Friday morning from Casco Bay off Chebeague Island, according to state officials. Maine Marine Patrol was notified by the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office around 9:18 a.m. about a body in the water about 100 yards away from the end of Indian Point Road on the island, the Maine Department of Marine Resources said in a news release.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — Police responding to a report of a 4-year-old boy walking alone on Thursday, July 18, did not realize he was seeking help. When an officer of the Old Orchard Beach Police Department walked the boy a quarter-mile back to his home, he found the boy's father had suffered a medical event. Police say he was taken to Maine Medical Center and has since made a full recovery.

Bouchard was appointed chief in July 2023, after an extended search. He had been hired as a per diem member in June 2019, and was appointed part time deputy chief in August 2019. He strives to create a more member-centered culture in the department. “We believe all members are equal, and everyone’s ideas are valued the same. So many great ideas flow from the bottom up.” One example he described was team training in low-angle rope rescues, essential in rescuing someone who has fallen down a steep slope. This collaborative culture helps to increase involvement, commitment and retention. “It keeps people here because they’re happy,” noted the chief.
