Cannon Falls City Council approves preliminary reassessment agreement with potential Cannon Mall buyer
The Cannon Falls City Council approved a reassessment agreement with a potential buyer for the Cannon Mall at its Tuesday, June 16, meeting. The Cannon Mall property was assessed for street and utility improvements back in 2001. The current owner of the property reached an agreement with the City where the assessments were deferred on the undeveloped parts of the property. That land remained undeveloped and over the last 25 years, interest has accrued on those deferred assessments and now totals over $450,000. That amount exceeds the total value of the undeveloped land and currently would have to be paid in full in the event of the sale, creating a significant road block to any potential buyer.
