2024 Coca-Cola 600 picks, odds, start time, lineup: Proven model has surprising NASCAR at Charlotte picks

The 2024 Coca-Cola 600 will take place on Sunday (6 p.m. ET) at Charlotte Motor Speedway and it's one of the biggest races on the NASCAR schedule. Jimmie Johnson and Martin Truex Jr. will be the only drivers in this year's Coca-Cola 600 field with multiple wins in NASCAR's longest race. Johnson is a four-time winner and the 48-year-old put this iconic event on his part-time schedule this season while Truex has won the Coca-Cola 600 twice.
Truex is second in the NASCAR standings and he's listed at +1000 in the 2024 Coca-Cola 600 odds while Johnson is a +50000 longshot. Kyle Larson, who is set to attempt the "Double" by racing in both the Indy 500 and this event, is the +475 favorite in the NASCAR at Charlotte odds while Denny Hamlin is listed at +600 and Tyler Reddick is priced at +700. Before making any 2024 NASCAR at Charlotte predictions, be sure to see the latest 2024 Coca-Cola 600 picks from SportsLine's proven projection model .
Developed by daily Fantasy pro and SportsLine predictive data engineer Mike McClure, this proprietary NASCAR prediction model simulates every race 10,000 times, taking into account factors such as track history and recent results.
McClure's model was red-hot in 2023, nailing Martin Truex Jr.'s Clash win (20-1) as well as his win in New Hampshire (11-2), Joey Logano's Duel win (8-1), Kyle Busch's Fontana victory (10-1), Denny Hamlin's triumph in Kansas (6-1) and Kyle Larson's wins at Martinsville (6-1) and the NASCAR All-Star Race (13-2). The model correctly predicted winners in two of the playoff races as well, with Ryan Blaney scoring a 12-1 payout at Talladega and Larson winning at 9-2 in Las Vegas.
Then it called its first winner of the 2024 season with Larson in Las Vegas for a 21-5 payout and predicted Hamlin's wins in Bristol at 5-1 and Richmond at 17-4. It also impressively nailed five of Larson's wins during his historic season in 2021. All told, the model has nailed a whopping 18 winners since 2021, including nine last year and three in the first seven races this season. Anyone who followed its lead on those NASCAR picks saw huge returns.
For the 2024 Coca-Cola 600, the model is high on Chase Elliott, even though he's a +1200 longshot in the latest 2024 NASCAR at Charlotte odds. He's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. The son of NASCAR legend Bill Elliott broke into the NASCAR Cup Series as a 19-year-old and he made the postseason in his first seven full-time seasons, winning 18 races and even claiming the 2020 Cup championship.
In 2023, he missed seven races after suffering a broken leg in a skiing accident and failed to win a race for the first time 2017, missing the postseason entirely. However, he broke back into the win column in Fort Worth earlier this season and he's currently fourth in the NASCAR standings. Elliott added a third-place finish in his last start on a 1.5-mile oval in Kansas three weeks ago and he's led at least five laps in each of his last six starts at Charlotte, including leading 28 laps in the 2020 Alsco Uniforms 500 on his way to a win after starting 19th.
Another massive shocker: Ryan Blaney, who is one of the top Vegas favorites at +850, stumbles and barely cracks the top 10. There are far better values in the 2024 Coca-Cola 600 starting lineup. Blaney is the reigning Coca-Cola 600 and NASCAR Cup Series champion but he's had a tough time following up his breakthrough season.
He's finished outside the top 10 in eight of 13 races so far this season and is currently eighth in the NASCAR standings. Blaney also finished outside the top 10 in nine of his first 12 career starts on the oval at Charlotte Motor Speedway before his victory last season. He's also coming off a 36th-place finish at Darlington with only one top-10 finish in his last five starts.
