“The influx of people is obviously going to be a lot for the city. So security is always a concern. Make sure that they’re able to handle the crowds, and then bathrooms; make sure there are enough bathrooms,” said resident Wendy Brtalik.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it will be working with several agencies to ensure the weekend will go as smoothly as possible.
Officers will be patrolling inside, as well as outside of the festival. The department said it will also staff its command center, which will monitor the event for all three days.
However, all major roads related to the festival will be closed until May 7.
Police encouraged those who will be taking Uber or Lyft to get dropped off or picked up on College Street between 7th and 9th Streets.
Organizers encouraged festivalgoers to arrive early. Gates are set to open at 1 p.m.
However, before you can set foot on the festival grounds, attendees have to activate their wristbands. You can do that here .
The Charlotte Area Transit System also announced that until April 30, festivalgoers can snag a 3-Day Unlimited Pass for just $9.00.
However, if you miss the early bird offer, you can still grab the pass from May 1 to May 3 for $13.00.
These passes are easily accessible through the CATS-Pass App and grant you unlimited access to transportation on the Gold Line, Blue Line, and bus system.
However, Severe Weather Center 9 is predicting severe weather on Saturday due to storms.
