West Virginia students compete in Academic Showdown finale

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Students from across the Mountain State showed off their skills and brains for the Academic Showdown finale on Tuesday.

The top 14 students went head-to-head at the West Virginia Culture Center in a bracket decided from seven regional match-ups. Last year’s competition winners tell WOWK 13 News the event is an exciting and fun way to show off their knowledge.

“This is an opportunity for you to use what you know and have fun doing it,” said Morgantown High School Senior Steven Tian. “Playing alongside your team against other motivated teams and just also win some money at the end, but yeah!”

Everyone in today’s competition did an amazing job, but one team came out on top – Morgantown High School is the winner of this year’s Academic Showdown.
