UPDATE: Abandoned Charleston home torn down due to ‘continuing fire risk’

UPDATE: (12:30 P.M.) – An abandoned home in Charleston is being torn down by the city after catching fire multiple times.

The home is at the intersection of York Avenue and Hanna Drive in Charleston. It caught fire just before 7 a.m. Friday morning. No injuries are being reported.

Charleston firefighters at the scene told 13 News this isn’t the first time the building has caught fire. The decision was made to tear it down due to the “continuing fire risk.”


CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — Crews are on the scene of a house fire in North Charleston. According to Metro 911, the fire started just before 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of York Avenue and Hanna Drive.
