Jefferson County Schools recognize Young Writers Contest county winners

JEFFERSON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Jefferson County Schools (JCS) has announced six-county Young Writers Contest winners.

Students from first through twelfth grade can submit stories for the contest.

County winners are invited to attend the Young Writers Day celebration in Charleston with students from across the state.

Winners:

• A Miracle That Came True
  • Victoria Bowman, 2nd Grade at South Jefferson Elementary
• A Fairy Tale
  • Nora Betts, 4th Grade at North Jefferson Elementary
• To the Future
  • Ryan Burns, 5th Grade at Wright Denny Intermediate
• House Saberton
  • Carys Schiffer, 8th Grade at Harpers Ferry Middle School
• The Kindness of a Stranger
  • Aurora Rodd, 10th Grade at Washington High School
• Burgundy Gingham
  • Benjamin Caltrider, 12th Grade at Washington High School

Dr. Lee Ebersole, Director of Social Emotional Support, shared, “We are especially proud of the creative talent and skill these authors brought to the craft of storytelling…We also acknowledge our teachers and school leaders who generously shared time and talent with our students.”
