    Centreville, Marcellus split baseball-softball double dip

    CENTREVILLE — Centreville and Marcellus split a double header each in baseball and softball on Monday.

    The Centreville softball team won both games, 13-2 and 12-11.

    Abbe Wherrett led Centreville in the first game. She clubbed a home run, collected three total hits and drove in three. LilyAnn Lutz scored two hits with four driven in while Kendalynn Bernheisel and Drew Alexander each recorded hits. Hannah Lennard pitched the Bulldogs to the win with five strikeouts.

    Layni Huering had two hits for Marcellus. Aubree Kruger and Carlyn Deer both had run-scoring hits and Clare Flory singled.

    Marcellus scored seven times in the top of the seventh in the second game. Centreville won with a single run in the seventh.

    Lutz belted five hits with eight runs driven in, she clubbed two home runs in the game. Bernheisel, Nikki Lennard and Wherrett all had two hits while Mackenzie Douglas and Liv Jacobs each had one hit.

    Kruger connected for a home run for Marcellus in the game. She drove in five total runs while Flory and Huering each had three hits. Addie Curtis and Ariah Evans both had two hits. Abby Tone, Kenzie Schuur, Deer and Charlotte Cropsey each had one hit for the Ladycats.

    In the baseball games, Marcellus improved to 16-0 on the season with a sweep. They won 13-0 and 9-4.

    G Bunning had two hits for Centreville, Kobe Carpenter logged one as well.

    Cole Thornburgh scored two hits with three RBIs, Cale Hackenberg and Abram Coffey both had two hits and drove in three. Nathan Mihills, Dawsen Lehew and Matthew Lehew each had one hit and an RBI.

    Hackenberg picked up the win with seven strikeouts.

    Marcellus scored all nine runs in the first inning of the second game. Mihills, Coffey and Hackenberg each had two hits and drove in one. Thornburgh also had a run-scoring hit.

    Trojans set new school record in relay event

    Coffey earned the win. He and Dawsen Lehew combined to strike out seven.

    Centreville logged eight hits. Matt Swanwick clubbed two with two RBIs, Evan Blair had two hits as well. Bo Riley drove in two with a base hit, Ben Truckenmiller, Vinny Jines and Tristan Smeltzer each registered a hit.

    Three Rivers sweeps Portage Northern

    The Three Rivers softball team won a pair of games over Portage Northern on Monday, 13-2 and 19-5.

    The first game saw both Dani Glass and London Hoffmaster register home runs. They drove in a combined five runs. Ava Forman logged four hits and two RBIs, Emily Ventrone and Lanie Glass combined for four hits. Peyton Ware drove in a pair with two hits.

    Jennaya Decker picked up the win with three strikeouts.

    In the second game, Three Rivers practiced some home run derby. Decker hit two while Forman, Ventrone and Hoffmaster each clubbed one as well. They combined to drive in 13 runs for the Wildcats.

    Allie McGlothlen scored two hits with three RBIs while Kendall Penny, Ware, Ashton Ware and A Bell each had a hit. Peyton Ware pitched the Cats to the win with two strikeouts.

    White Pigeon at Cassopolis

    The White Pigeon baseball team won a pair of games at Cassopolis on Monday evening.

    The Chiefs picked up victories of 7-2 and 7-4. Brody Block tossed a no-hitter for the Chiefs in the first game, striking out nine batters.

    Here's how local softball teams fared during the weekend

    Devin Smith clubbed three hits for the Chief offense. Both Clayton Grandstaff and Zack Sowards-Hack each had two hits. Block finished with two singles and a double. Dace Kochel singled and doubled, Carter Becraft added a base hit.

    Kochel picked up the win in the nightcap, striking out six hitters. He clubbed three hits at the plate as well.

    Block, Becraft and Devin Schaefer each registered a base hit.

    Cassopolis won both softball games, 5-2 and 10-9.

    In the first game Leigha Shudell and Emily Miller hit doubles. Cali Raley and Rachel Byler each recorded a single.

    Here's a look at local baseball action from the weekend

    Emily Barton blasted a homer in the second game. She singled as well and finished with four RBIs. Layla Abner drove in three with a pair of hits and Mable Post singled twice to drive in a pair. Maddi Cavasos singled.

    Burr Oak sweeps Pittsford

    The Burr Oak softball team improved to 10-3 on the season with a double header sweep of Pittsford on Tuesday.

    The Bobcats won 16-0 and 18-0. Brooklynn Root picked up the win in both games, striking out a combined 10. She allowed just one hit in four combined innings.

    At the plate in the first game, both Elaine Holtom and Braylyn Hernandez finished with two hits and one RBI, Root also drove in a run with a hit. The second game saw Holtom and Hernandez combine for four hits and five RBIs. Inez Ultz had two hits as well while Lilly Holtom and Root each had a hit and a run driven in.
