Family faceoff: Centreville softball sweeps White Pigeon in father, daughter coach matchup

CENTREVILLE — The softball games between Centreville and White Pigeon had a little extra juice on Monday.

Centreville head coach Katie Rowley was facing off against her dad, Scott Logan, who is the head coach for White Pigeon. It was the first time they had coached against each other at the varsity level.

Rowley got the better of dad on the diamond as Centreville swept White Pigeon, 11-1 and 12-1.

In the first game, Hannah Lennard picked up the win with four strikeouts. She also hit a homer at the plate and drove in two runs. Abbe Wherrett, LilyAnn Lutz and Kendalynn Bernheisel each had two hits as well.

Laynie Cupp had a base hit and drove in one. Makenzie Douglas had a hit as well, driving in three.

White Pigeon got two singles from Madison Smallwood. Mable Post, Leigha Shudell and Cali Raley each hit a single and Emily Barton doubled.

Centreville scored nine times in the third inning of the second game.

Lutz clubbed three hits and drove in two runs, Lennard had two hits and drove in three with a home run. Cupp drove in a pair with two hits, Liv Jacobs had two hits as well. Drew Alexander and Nikki Lennard both added a hit.

Nikki Lennard pitched the Bulldogs to the win with four strikeouts.

Post hit a single and a double for the Chiefs. Emily Miller doubled as well while Shudell, Raley, Madison Cavasos and Emily Temple each added a hit.
