CENTREVILLE — The Queen Anne’s County Office of the Sheriff proudly commemorated National Shelter Pet Day by demonstrating its commitment to the welfare of animals in the community by organizing an in-office donation drive and delivering the items to the animals and staff at Queen Anne’s County Animal Services.

The donation drive, spearheaded by Public Information Officer Kaitlyn Briselli and Sheriff Gary Hofmann received overwhelming support from staff members who generously contributed various items to support shelter pets awaiting adoption. PIO Briselli added “We are delighted to celebrate National Shelter Pet Day by supporting the invaluable work of the QAC Animal Services. Our donation drive and visit today underscores our ongoing commitment to serving all areas of our community, including our beloved furry friends.”

On April 30, representatives from the Sheriff’s Office had the privilege of visiting the Queen Anne’s County Animal Services to deliver the collected donations and spend time with both the animals and the dedicated workers and volunteers who tirelessly care for them. Deputy Bredet Williams also made a generous donation of sponsoring the adoption fee for Jake, a six-year-old mixed breed dog, looking for his forever home.

Hofmann added “National Shelter Pet Day is a poignant reminder that compassion knows no bounds, and as law enforcement professionals, it’s our privilege to extend that compassion to our four-legged friends in need. By coming together to support shelters and advocate for animal welfare, we uphold our duty to promote safety, care, and empathy in every aspect of our community.”

For more information on adopting Jake, or other animals at QACAS please visit qac.org/1425/Animal-Services, visit their Facebook page, or call them at 410-827-7178.
