Duo accused of child endangerment in Centre Hall

CENTRE HALL, Pa. (WTAJ) — State police have charged two Centre Hall residents for allegedly endangering multiple children.

Troopers from PSP Rockview responded to a childline report at a home along the 2000 block of General Potter Highway on April 19 for suspected child abuse or neglect, according to charges filed. When police arrived, they found Stephon Brooks, 33, along with four young children. Soon after, Brianna Miller, 23, also returned to the residence.

While speaking with Brooks, he told troopers that sometimes there are often 10 children inside the residence.

Police began searching the home and said they found three rifles and one shotgun, according to a criminal complaint. They said two rifles and the shotgun were found in a vehicle at the residence, while an AK-style rifle was found under Brooks’ bed. Police noted in the charges that’s where one of the children was lying when they arrived at the home.

According to the affidavit, police also found methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana inside a backpack in Brooks’ bedroom. Troopers said the bag could have been easily accessed and opened. Additional drugs and paraphernalia were also found underneath his bed, police said.

Brooks had bail denied for public safety and is currently in Centre County Prison. He’s facing four felony counts of prohibited possession of a firearm, four felony counts of child endangerment, felony drug delivery and a misdemeanor for drug possession.

Miller is also in the Centre County Prison with bail set at $50,000. She is facing four felony counts of child endangerment, a felony count of drug delivery and a misdemeanor for drug possession.

Preliminary hearings for the duo are scheduled for May 1.
