This June, the Centralia College Music Department will host four concerts featuring local student, amateur and professional musicians working together to create memorable evenings, according to a news release.

The concerts will all be held at 7 p.m. in the Corbet Theatre in Centralia College's Washington Hall.

All four concerts will be free and open to the public.

    • June 4: Lewis County Community Band, directed by Louie Blaser and Karl Scarborough
    • June 5: Centralia College Jazz Ensemble, directed by Louie Blaser
    • June 13: Centralia College Choir, directed by Hyewon Kim
    • June 17: Pacific Northwest Chamber Orchestra, directed by Joshua Friedlander

Every spring the Pacific Northwest Chamber Orchestra presents a concert featuring young musical artists from the local area.

“This year, we are proud to present two fine young musicians,” the music department stated in the release.

Nayeli Howard, of Centralia, the daughter of Ana and Justin Howard, will perform Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor. She is an 11th grade Centralia College Running Start student who studies violin with Cecilia Garcia in Argentina and piano with Vera Dvorak.

Freya Wearner, of Chehalis, daughter of Eric and Lisa Wearner, is also a Running Start student in her senior year of studies at Centralia College. Wearner will be accompanied by the Pacific Northwest Chamber Orchestra’s Concertmaster Joshua Pedersen as they perform Vivaldi’s Double Violin Concerto. Wearner studies violin with Isaac Allen, of Olympia, as well as piano with Art Peterson, also of Olympia.

This concert will also feature music by Von Suppe and Edward Elgar and musical themes from Mission Impossible. The Two Town Tuners will provide intermission entertainment.
