N.Y. Lottery: Player wins $1,000 a week for life in Cash4Life prize
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A lucky lottery player in New York state will enjoy $1,000 a week for life after purchasing a second-prize Cash4Life ticket. The New York Lottery announced the ticket was sold for the Wednesday Cash4Life drawing — worth a guaranteed minimum of $1 million — in Nassau County. It was purchased at Jay Cards & Gift LLC, located at 712 Old Bethpage Rd., in Old Bethpage.

NCPD: Yonkers Scammer Arrested for Taking Over $70,000 from Construction Client But Never Doing Any Work
The Eighth Squad reports the details of the arrest of a Yonkers man for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Levittown. According to Detectives, a homeowner performed a google search for someone to fix cracks in his home’s foundation. The victim set up an appointment for the following day with Maichel Woods, which turned out to be a false name (alias), working for Empire Foundation and Masonry, 140 Broadway Lower, 46th floor, New York. The defendant, now known as Martin Ward, 27, of 941 Mclean Avenue, Apt. 242 collected a total of $70,200 USC from the victim without performing the construction. The victim has made multiple attempts to contact the defendant. The only response received was to request an additional $36,000 which the victim did not provide.
Smithtown Department of Public Safety honors outstanding officers and promotes peace officers
On May 15, the Town of Smithtown Department of Public Safety and Town Officials honored department members during the annual ceremony, which is held during National Police Week every year. Awards were presented to nine Public Safety officers for exceptional dedication and commitment to the job. The ceremony was led by Chief Tom Lohmann, Director of Public Safety with support from Deputy Director, Catherine Caillat and division leaders.

The New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and The State University of New York (SUNY) joined with Farmingdale State College and developmental disabilities service providers Community Mainstreaming Associates, Developmental Disabilities Institute, Epic Long Island, Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Life's WORC, The Center for Developmental Disabilities, Inc., and Viability today to celebrate the success of its Direct Support Professionals Microcredential Program. Officials were on hand to acknowledge 26 students from the first cohort who are graduating this month. Enrollment for a second cohort is happening now.
