A long-duration and dangerous heat wave is expected to impact the Pittsburgh area on Monday. With temperatures climbing potentially beyond 95 degrees, Citiparks is opening cooling centers Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21. The shelters will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

I learned it took Claire, who has a disability, five months to find an employer who would hire her, and she has been on a waiting list for affordable housing for over 18 months. While she is looking forward to a career-planning and goal-setting process with her direct support professional, she wants to find a job she loves, not just any job.

Shuman Juvenile Detention Center expected to reopen in 2 to 3 weeks, leaders say
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — After being closed for nearly three years, the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center is finally set to reopen.For the past three years, there has been no place to detain juvenile offenders accused of the most serious crimes involving guns and violence.
