AH School Board hears proposed 2025 budget
After controversy and an announcement that a standoff over a potential budget had been resolved, the Anoka-Hennepin School Board heard a proposal for the 2025 budget on May 20. The presentation took place during the regular school board meeting, and was presented by Chief Financial Officer Michelle Vargas. As it stands, the total revenue expected in Fiscal Year 2025 is $717,264,851 for the district, while expenses are at $742,599,453. Osseo boys take 3rd, girls 4th at NWSC track and field championships
Elk River High School hosted the Northwest Suburban Conference Track and Field Championships last week. The finals of the two-day meet was on May 22. The Osseo boys’ took third while the girls took fourth. Both Maple Grove teams finished in eighth. On May 21, the Osseo Area School Board saw a presentation from the District Planning Advisory Council (DPAC) with recommendations on things the board can address in the future. OPC and Rebels boys lax teams clash
Osseo/Park Center boys lacrosse hosted neighbors Champlin Park on May 20 in an eventual 19-2 Rebels win as both teams prepared for their coming section tournaments. OPC entered the game still looking for the second win of the season, while Champlin Park was looking to, and eventually did, extend its winning streak to seven games. Cambridge Primary, Intermediate students honor veterans during fourth ‘Silent Dismissal’
For the fourth year, students, teachers, and staff of Cambridge Primary and Intermediate Schools honored local veterans on the Friday before Memorial Day with a “Silent Dismissal.” One by one, classes are let out of the building at the end of the day and proceed past lines of guest veterans in complete silence, minus their shuffling feet.
ECFE - Not just your average preschool
In 1974, Minnesota started the first ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) program. Fifty years later, the program, which is designed for any pre-kindergarten aged kid and their parents, has blossomed into serving over 310,000 children and caregivers annually. Locally, Cambridge-Isanti Schools has offered an ECFE program since the mid 1980s.
