Victim of deadly Metro stabbing identified as family demands justice
Authorities have identified the victim of Monday morning's fatal stabbing on at a Metro station in Universal City. Mirna Soza Arauz, 67, was killed after she was brutally attacked by a man as she exited the Metro B Line train to the station in the 3800 block of Lankershim Boulevard at around 5 a.m., according to Los Angeles Police Department investigators. She was stabbed in the throat during the apparently unprovoked attack and died after being rushed to a nearby hospital. Los Angeles firefighters rescued four teens from their mangled car after they crashed into a cinderblock wall during a pursuit with LA County deputies. The collision happened on the northbound 5 Freeway and Calzona Street offramp. The California Highway Patrol closed the slow lane on the freeway. $50k reward offered for information on fatal hit-and-run from October
A $50,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a hit-and-run driver who hit and killed a woman in Los Angeles in late-October of last year. The crash happened back on Oct. 29, 2023 at around 1:45 p.m., when the driver of a white SUV that was driving southbound on Long Beach Avenue struck and killed a woman, who has since been identified as Dianna Hernandez, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. "The suspect fled southbound on Long Beach Avenue from 48th Place," said a statement from LAPD investigators. "The suspect failed to stop, identify him/her self, or render aid to Dianna Hernandez who was fatally injured."Two images of the vehicle that detectives believe was involved in the crash were released in hopes that someone with more information would come forward. They believe that the SUV could be a white 2003-2006 Ford Expedition. The city of Los Angeles is offering a $50,000 reward that helps investigators identify, arrest and prosecute the driver, who is "responsible for taking the life of Dianna Hernandez by committing a Felony Hit and Run," police said. A man is dead after a shooting Rosemead on Tuesday. It was reported at around 5:45 p.m. in the 3200 block of Gladys Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Deputies arrived to find the victim, who has not yet been identified, dead at the scene. There was no information on either a motive or possible suspect available. Man arrested for fatally stabbing roommate during fight in Santa Ana
A man has been arrested for allegedly fatally stabbing his roommate during a fight at their Santa Ana home on Sunday. Police were dispatched to the scene located in the 1500 block of S. Lowell Street at around 8:30 a.m. after learning of a disturbance at the home, according to a statement from the Santa Ana Police Department. Officers arrived to find 26-year-old William Stephen Nared suffering from a stab wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The suspect, who has since been identified as 25-year-old David James Espinosa, is said to have fled from the area on a bicycle. He was found a few blocks from the location by police. "Homicide detectives assumed the investigation and processed the crime scene. Subsequent interviews unveiled that the victim and the suspect were roommates," said SAPD in a statement. "Within the residence, a conflict arose between them, leading to a physical altercation and homicide."Espinosa was booked on suspicion of murder.Anyone with further details is asked to contact investigators at (714) 245-8390.

Nine Southern California couples have filed a lawsuit accusing the Ovation Fertility lab of negligence and recklessness for implanting dead embryos into would-be mothers, according to attorneys. "Late January of this year, Ovation committed a catastrophic error in their laboratory in which they exposed embryos to lethal chemicals, killing them," attorney Rob Marcereau said. Stolen vehicle suspect barricaded inside car after brief pursuit in San Pedro
A brief pursuit with a stolen vehicle suspect came to a sudden end in San Pedro when the driver stopped the car and barricaded inside, prompting an hours-long standoff with police.The chase ended at around 2:50 p.m. but ended near Gaffey Street and Sepulveda Boulevard, when the suspect pulled behind a business' parking lot that turned into a dead end. The driver could be seen sitting inside of the car, a Honda sedan, while surrounded by dozens of Los Angeles Police Department units with SkyCal overhead. Officers utilized less-than lethal ammunition to try to get the suspect out of the car, shooting multiple bean bags through a rear window of the car. A SWAT team was called to the scene to assist. Just before 6:30 p.m., the suspect surrendered after officers deployed a gas canister into the back of the car. He was arrested without further incident.

Two students from a Reseda high school were stabbed blocks away from campus Tuesday afternoon.The two reported stabbings happened in different locations but near Cleveland Charter High School. Speeding driver leads CHP on brief pursuit downtown Los Angeles
A driver was arrested in Pasadena after a brief pursuit through downtown Los Angeles Tuesday morning.The chase started just before 6 a.m. after officers attempted to pull over a silver Mercedes-Benz sedan for speeding on the northbound Arroyo Seco (SR110) Parkway near Via Marisol, according to the California Highway Patrol.
